David specialises in family law. He acts and advises in all areas of:
- private law, including contact, residence, leave to remove and related committal proceedings
- special guardianship applications
- public law care and adoption proceedings, in which he has acted for local authorities, parents and guardians
- injunctions and domestic violence applications under the Family Law Act 1996, including occupation orders and transfers of tenancy, and related committal proceedings
- matrimonial work and separation of cohabitants; he was involved in Stack v Dowden [2007] UKHL 17 concerning the property rights of cohabiting partners
