Suzannah Cotterill is a family law barrister and mediator specialising in financial remedies.

She has a  strong focus on company/partnership aspects with third party intervenors, bankruptcy and high net worth clients. This often involves international elements and is combined regularly with equestrian assets.

Suzannah determines the most productive approach: she advises on alternative dispute resolution whether mediation or the benefits of a final hearing. She also assists both parties by sitting as a ‘judge’ in Early Neutral Evaluations.

Suzannah is currently on a sabbatical from chambers.

Suzannah is known for her precise grasp of figures, careful case presentation and pragmatic problem-solving advice. Together these ensure all aspects of a client’s potential claim are considered.

Her forensic preparation and skilled court work are renowned and she is praised for her cross-examination.

Suzannah’s family practice also covers children (public and private).

In public law, her child care work provides in-depth expertise in multi-expert causation fact findings.

Additionally, Suzannah has a significant interest in sports law and a niche practice in equestrian law which covers sales and purchase, breach of contract (Sales of Goods, Consumer Relations Act), personal injury and representation before sporting and equine disciplinary and regulatory bodies.

Suzannah has been a Chair and Panel member for the British Equestrian Federation and in 2024 was appointed to British Eventing Discipline Panel. Suzannah has also been appointed for three years as a mediator for Sports Resolutions.

She has a BSc (Hons) in Applied Animal Behaviour and acts as an Equine Law Expert and is a member of the Expert Witness Institute

Suzannah is able to accept instructions directly from members of the public within her specialist practice areas.
